Ready to chase some serious fish in the Gulf? Captain Davey's got you covered with offshore trips that'll get your heart racing and your arms burning. Whether you've got a half day or a full day to play, we'll put you on the hottest bite around Corpus Christi. Kingfish, cobia, sharks - heck, we might even tangle with a dorado if we're lucky. Don't sweat the gear or know-how, we've got everything you need to land the big ones.
Rise and shine, anglers! We're casting off at 7 AM sharp to beat the heat and hit the prime fishing grounds. Bring your A-game and some sunscreen, 'cause once we clear the jetties, it's go time. On the 4-hour trip, we'll focus on the nearshore waters where kings and cobia like to hang out. Got the full 8 hours? We'll push further out, giving us a shot at red snapper, more shark action, and maybe even some mahi-mahi if they're running. Captain Davey knows these waters like the back of his hand, so get ready to put some serious bend in those rods.
Out here, we play the game a few different ways. For kings and cobia, we'll often troll with live bait or lures - nothing beats the thrill of a smoker king skyrocketing on a blue runner. When we're after snapper, we'll drop lines and jig over structure. Shark fishing? That's a whole different ball game - we'll set up a chum slick and wait for the big boys to come investigate. Don't worry about bringing any gear; we've got top-notch rods, reels, and tackle all ready to go. Just bring a good attitude and maybe a lucky hat.
Kingfish: These speedsters are the bread and butter of Gulf fishing. They'll smoke a reel faster than you can say "fish on!" and put up one heck of a fight. We typically see 'em in the 15-30 pound range, but don't be surprised if we tangle with a 40+ pounder. Kings are around most of the year, but summer and early fall is prime time.
Cobia: Also known as ling, these bruisers are like the linebackers of the sea. They're curious fish, often swimming right up to the boat to check us out. That's when you want to be ready with a live bait or a well-placed jig. Cobia start showing up in spring and stick around through fall. A 30-pounder will give you a run for your money, and they're excellent on the grill.
Red Snapper: If you've never pulled up a big red from 100 feet down, you're in for a treat. These fish fight hard and taste even better. We mainly target them on our 8-hour trips when they're in season (usually June and July). There's nothing quite like seeing that crimson flash coming up from the deep blue.
Sharks: From blacktips to bulls, sharks always get the adrenaline pumping. We practice catch and release with these apex predators, but trust me, you'll never forget the power of a 6-foot shark on the end of your line. They're around year-round, but summer brings them in closer to shore.
Mahi-Mahi (Dorado): These acrobatic fish are the wildcards of our offshore trips. When we find them, it's usually a fast and furious bite. They're absolutely gorgeous fish - electric blue and golden yellow - and they fight like crazy, leaping and tail-walking across the surface. Late summer and early fall give us our best shot at these beauties.
Look, I've been running charters out of Corpus for years, and there's a reason folks keep booking trips with us. It's not just about catching fish (though we do plenty of that). It's about the whole experience - feeling that salty breeze, watching the sun climb over the horizon as we head out, and never knowing what might grab your line next. Whether you're a seasoned pro or it's your first time offshore, Captain Davey will make sure you have a blast and learn something new. Plus, we clean and bag your catch, so you can focus on the fun part.
So what are you waiting for? The Gulf is calling, and the fish are biting. Whether you've got a half day or a full day to spare, we've got the perfect trip for you. Bring your buddies, bring the family - heck, bring your boss if you're angling for a promotion. Just remember, spots fill up fast, especially during peak season. Give us a shout, and let's get you on the books for some of the best dang fishing Corpus Christi has to offer. Trust me, once you feel that first big hit, you'll be hooked for life.
